Maggie Arias was born in New York and moved to Florida when she was five years old. She obtained her degree in Criminology from the University of Florida. She attended Stetson University Law School where she was a member of Stetson's Nationally recognized Trial Team. As a former Assistant Public Defender and a recognized trial lawyer, Maggie has handled thousands of criminal cases and has tried cases ranging from DUI, trespass, assault and battery, resisting arrest, to grand thefts, armed robbery, drug offenses, trafficking, kidnapping, and molestation charges. Maggie is also an appellate attorney handling all criminal appeal matters.
In April 2010, Maggie was honored by the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers by receiving "The Outstanding Young Lawyers Award" given to a young lawyer who exemplifies hard work in the legal arena and in service to the community. Maggie is on the Board of Directors for the FACDL-Miami Chapter and has held that position for the last four years. She is also Chair of the Amicus Curiae Committee. In her capacity as Amicus Chair, Maggie represents a client before the Florida Supreme Court whose case will inevitably affect the rights of defendants who filed post-conviction relief motions in the State of Florida.
Maggie brings her tenacious and aggressive style to defending the rights of the criminally accused and of immigrants facing deportation. It is Maggie's personal and professional mission to provide the highest quality legal representation to all her clients.
In her spare time, Maggie volunteers at an organic garden for at-risk youth and teaches yoga.
