The Florida State Board of Education decided, Tuesday, not to appeal a ruling from a Federal Judge prohibiting colleges and universities from charging higher tuition rates to children of undocumented immigrants. This is an important ruling and decision affecting thousands of students throughout the State of Florida.
This is one more step toward better treatment of the thousands of undocumented immigrants in Florida. With the re-election of President Obama, it is anticipated that the DREAM Act regulation recently enacted will continue. Those who are DREAM Act eligible and receive the benefit of deferred action, can now pay in-state tuition regardless of the immigration status of their parents.
